Works have recently finished on two housing schemes in Rhydyfelin and Taffs Well.
Hafod in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCTCBC) through the Social Housing Grant have recently finished works on two housing schemes in Rhydyfelin and Taffs Well.
The Clos Heddfan scheme located in Rhydyfelin has received a total investment of £6.7m to build 35 homes on the site. We received a £4m contribution for the scheme through the Social Housing Grant and funded the remainder ourselves. The scheme is located on the old site of an RCTCBC office building which has been demolished in order to provide these affordable homes in the area. The development consists of-
- 9 x 3-bed houses
- 8 x 2-bed houses
- 6 x 2-bed flat
- 10 x 1-bed flats
- 2 x 2-bed accessible bungalows
Many of these homes also benefit from off-road parking and large gardens. The homes are a mixture of stone and brickwork finishes and have been constructed by ASD Ltd.
The second of our schemes, Llys Ty Garth is located in Taffs Well, 20 homes have been built by M J Cosgrove for the £3.4m scheme. £2.1m of funding was received through the Social Housing Grant while the rest was privately funded by Hafod. The 20 homes on the site consist of –
- 3 x 2-bed houses
- 2 x 2-bed bungalows
- 4 x 2-bed flats
- 9 x 1-bed flats
- 2 x 1-bed accessible flats
Cllr Bob Harris and Council officers were invited to visit both schemes to see the success of the developments and meet some of the residents who have moved into the homes.
Cllr Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said: “Thank you to Hafod for the invitation to visit Clos Heddfan and Llys Ty Garth. It was great be shown around the Heddfan development by Hafod and the directors of ASD, the work that has completed on the site is exceptional and I’m sure residents will be very happy to move into these homes.
“It was also great to visit Llys Ty Garth in Tafs Well and speak to the residents who moved have moved in. It was great to hear that they’re all happy and have been able to build a tightknit community.”
Neil Taylor, Head of Development at Hafod, said: “It’s fantastic to see the completion of this development which has delivered 35 new affordable homes for the local community in Rhydyfelin. The spacious properties are built to a superb standard and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved in partnership with our contractors ASD Build and RCT Council.”
“It’s brilliant to see people settling into their new homes at Llys Ty Garth. The transformation of this site, which was previously offices, into a cul-de-sac of 20 new homes including houses, flats and two adapted bungalows is very satisfying. The convenient location in Taffs Well provides residents with excellent transport links and is also close to local amenities.”
All homes in Llys Ty Garth have now been allocated and residents are very pleased with their new homes. Work on Clos Heddfan has recently concluded, and residents are expected to move in shortly.
